User guide: Editing content

Editing a specific content

  1. Navigate to the URL of an existing content you'd like to edit.
    Example:
    http://www.website.com/en/example
    http://www.website.com/?p=en/example

  2. Click on the edit link in the content actions area.

  3. If nobody is currently editing this content, edition screen will appear.
    Note: If this content is getting currently edited by another user, you'll have to wait for him to finish.

  4. Edit your content by typing it in the edition form.

  5. Preview your changes.
    Note: Anwiki checks the value of each field before saving it.
    If a value is incorrect, an error message will be displayed below the erroneous field, and the content is not saved.

  6. Save your changes.

Edition screen

  1. Editable content fields: these fields depends on the structure of the content-class related to the edited content.
    Each field has it's own type (XML bloc, string, integer, date...).

  2. PHP translations field is a special field (we will explain it later).

  3. Comment: You can type a comment associated to your changes, for letting users know the reason of your edition.

  4. Publish button: click here to save your changes and finish editing your content.

  5. Preview button: click here to preview your changes before saving it.

  6. Abort button: click here to cancel your changes and exit edition mode.
    Tip: Clicking on this button is better than just closing your browser as it will immediately remove the edition lock.

  7. Edition lock: when editing a content, this content is locked so other users can't edit it at the same time.
    • This lock automatically expires after a few minutes of inactivity.
    • This lock is automatically renewed when an activity is detected.
    • If the lock has expired or is about to expire, it can be renewed by clicking to the renew link.

Advanced content-fields

Depending on the content-class, you may use advanced content-fields :
  • Composition: A content-field may be composed by other content-fields
    Example: A link is composed by a title, an URL and a target window.

  • Multiplicity: A content-field may have a multiplicity, and it's occurences may be sortable or not
    Example: A menu may have one or more links

Multiple Content Field can be added by clicking on the add button.

  1. After clicking, an occurrence of the Content Field appears.
  2. An occurrence can be removed by clicking on the corresponding deletion button.
  3. An occurrence may be composed itself by another multiple content-fields. Click on the addition button to to add an occurrence.

  1. After clicking, an occurrence of the content-field appears inside the parent content-field.
  2. This occurrence can be removed by clicking on the corresponding deletion button.
  3. More occurences can be added by clicking again on the addition button.

After clicking, one more occurrence appears.

Depending on the content-class definition, multiple occurrences may be sorted:
  • With drag&drop
  • With top/bottom arrows, near the deletion button
